Dr. Joanne M. Rhodes
PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Pelvic Floor PT, TMJ (jaw)/headache specialist, Ortho specialist
Joanne is an orthopedic and pelvic floor PT (both male and female) with a special interest in TMJ or jaw pain/headaches and neck pain. She graduated from Samuel Merritt University with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT), finishing top of her class in 2012. She completed her Orthopaedic Residency at Keesler Air Force Base in
Biloxi Mississippi, serving as a primary care provider for active-duty military and special forces trainees. She is Board Certified in Orthopaedics (OCS) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT).
Following her Fellowship Joanne joined the faculty of the program, developing the curriculum for their inaugural Residency class in 2017 and providing mentorship to Residents and Fellows in training. She continued expanding her knowledge and skills with certification in CranioSacral therapy, a hands-on technique that employs light touch to release tension, address imbalances and reduce pain in the whole body. It works on the level of the fascia and nervous system to enhance and facilitate greater healing, health and improved performance. It can also be used as a preventative and restorative treatment to reduce stress and bolster wellbeing.
Joanne blends her extensive experience in Physical Therapy with an integrative holistic approach. She believes in truly listening to her clients, trusting their inherent wisdom, and respecting their autonomy. Passionate about education, she is an eternal student, currently focused on expanding her knowledge in the realm of lifestyle medicine and somatics.
When not working Joanne can be found baking and chasing after her toddler. She loves skiing, yoga, cycling, soccer, hiking in the redwoods and spending as much time outdoors as she can. She is also tremendously fond of a good book and cups of tea.
